Starbuck Washington, Project Award

Starbuck Washington, Project Award

PA Contract Services Ltd are delighted by the appointment by Sheet Anchor Investments 2 Ltd, for the construction of a new 1850sqft Starbucks Coffee Shop, located in Washington, Sunderland, to the south of the Galleries Shopping Centre. Works include Earthworks, Groundworks, Superstructures, External Works, Landscaping, Highways Works and 14 Nr Electrical Vehicle Chargers.

The layout of the eastern site has been designed in close collaboration with Starbucks and Pogo Charge to achieve a design that best meets their operational requirements. The underground utility services dictate the location of the drive thru building within the eastern site. Setting the building close to the eastern boundary avoids these services. This also allows the customer car park to be located adjacent to the main access road while also allowing the drive thru lane to meet the required queuing length. The location of the drive thru entrance lane prevents any possible queues spilling out into the roadway and causing an obstruction.

The numerous services running across the front of the eastern site has been allocated for parking and external hard surfaces / soft landscaping.

The EV charging hub, to be operated by Pogo Charge, has been located within a separate area of the car park, along with the necessary electrical equipment that is required to service the charging kiosks. This assists in creating separate legal demises required by the developer. The equipment serving the charging kiosks needs to be located away from the sewers and outside of any associated easements.

Starbucks require a minimum of 17no. total car parking spaces including 2no. disabled bays and 2no. EV bays. They also require 1no. waiting bay which customers use when an order will take longer to be prepared.
